"I am often asked how radio works. Well, you see, wire telegraphy is like a very long cat. You yank his tail in New York and he meows in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? Now, radio is exactly the same, except that there is no cat."

Casper Amateur Radio Club
W7VNJ - Amateur Radio in Natrona County since 1954. About CARC, what we do and who we are.
W7VNJ Web Site
This site is a bit different than most Ham Radio Club sites.
This site is a Wiki. Basically that means you - our visitor - can, add, edit, modify and create pages or their content and are encouraged to do so! If you've know something that may be of benefit to the Ham Community - create a page for it or find a related page and put it up. Share your history, your shack, your favorite modes, your favorite events, kits you've built, your projects, your hard earned wisdom bought by hours of chasing elusive DX or QRP contacts - let your imagination by your guide. Of course, we'd like you to be a member of CARC, but that's not a requirement to contribute to this site. As long as it's ham radio related - you and your ideas are welcome here. Ultimately, this site's users will create its content and keep it up to date. You must have a user account and be logged in to make any changes. See the Create an Account or Log In page.
This web site has been Serving the Casper area Amateur Community since 28-Jan-2006

W7VNJ 2m repeaters and Tower Site
Our Local repeater is open to all licensed operators and can be found at 145.235 (standard negative offset) with a 100hz tone. Plan to use this repeater for many local club activities and events. It has very good coverage in the Casper area - especially for hand helds.
Our Regional repeater is open to all licensed operators and can be found at 146.940 (standard negative offset) with a 123hz tone. This repeater is used for the Sunday evening club net. Those operating near Casper Mountain (South side of town) may want to use a mobile or base radio instead of a hand held and/or an antenna with some gain. Due to 'shadow' effect near the mountain, it can be tough to get into the .940 machine with a 'rubber duckie dummy load'.
For more information, pictures and details on the club's repeater and the tower site visit the 145.235 or the 146.940 page.
So, what's a repeater you ask? Take a look. Click that link and read up!

Wyoming Swap Shop
Paul, KB7FGN does all of us a service by coordinating the Wyoming Swap Shop. You can find the latest listings for the Wyo Swap Shop and other wanted and for sale items in the Classifieds section of our discussion board.
Operations and Projects
The operations page is a place to gather information about the hows, where's and who's of ham radio in the area. Idea is to make information available that is of more interest to the ham operator, but not take up space on this front page for the casual 'surfer'.
The Projects page includes ideas and possibly plans for radio related projects. Including station setup, power systems, mobile operations, alternative energy and more.
